Talent University: Training and Career Paths

So what's Talent U all about? It's about giving you the training, tools, and techniques to be the best you can be in your position. It can also be about preparing you for success in future roles within CIK - if you have the talent and desire to commit to making that development happen.

Here's how it works:

The core culture attributes of CIK are woven into everything we do. Performance reviews and training are administered with these items in mind so that you are aware of expectations, and have a foundation from which to grow. The curriculum presented in Talent U has been included for a reason—to build the competencies that CIK and your department value the most.

Training seminars and continuous learning experiences are classified into Talent U “courses.” In fact, you have a course catalog at your fingertips that will constantly be updated as new experiences are introduced to enhance your development. Some courses are required, and some are elective. Some have prerequisites, and some are unrelated to any other course.

Group courses are “taught” by employees who have been Talent U-certified for that course. This is to ensure that you receive the same quality experience and consistency in course material that everyone else has received after completing the course.

New CIK employees follow a rigorous training schedule during their first few weeks of employment. This will knock out a number of required CIK 100-level courses in your personal curriculum, as well as introduce you to the specifics of your own job and department. Talent U prepares you to learn via the “ripple” approach. That is, first focus your attention on the important aspects of your position, and then work your way to the outer rings of the ripple by understanding how your department operates. Finally, round out your learning by beginning to understand how your role affects and interacts with other employees across CIK.

Because CIK believes that its employees should never stop learning, courses for seasoned employees include more well-known options, such as partial tuition reimbursement, but they also leave room for any electives or other required courses that you have been saving for the right time. This stage, especially, will always evolve to include new 200-, 300-, and 400-level courses and opportunities for growth such as stretch assignments, the CIK Incubator (leadership development team), external seminars, and the chance to create your own learning experiences to benefit other CIK employees.
